Ancient Egyptian Government
The Ancient Egyptian Government was first ruled by the Pharaoh. The Pharaoh was the supreme leaser , not only of the Government but also of the religion. he had a hierarchy of rulers and leaders below him who ran different aspects of the government. Vizier: was the primary leader of the government under the Pharaoh. He was the Chief overseer of the land like the prime minister. All the other officials reported to him. No marks: Under the Vizier were local governors called the No marks. they ruled over an area of land called the Nome. Nome was like a state. Other officials were the Army commander, the chief treasurer and minister of public work. They all had their own responsibilities and power. Scribes were also important as they kept track of the finances and recorded taxes. Citizens had to pay taxes to support the government. People accepted the Pharaoh as their supreme leader and God.
